What Is Your English Level?
Your English level describes how well you can understand and use the language in real situations. Whether you’re studying, working, or preparing for an exam, knowing your level (or your “proficiency”) helps you choose the right materials and track your progress.
This English level test gives you an estimated CEFR level from A1 (beginner) to C2 (advanced), so you can choose better study materials, join the right class, or track your progress over time.
What Is the CEFR Scale?
The CEFR (Common European Framework of Reference) is an international standard used to measure language proficiency.
It divides learners into six levels:
| CEFR Level | English Level | What it means |
|---|---|---|
| A1 | Beginner | You can use simple words and phrases for basic everyday needs. |
| A2 | Elementary | You can communicate in simple, routine situations on familiar topics. |
| B1 | Intermediate | You can handle most everyday situations and express simple opinions. |
| B2 | Upper Intermediate | You can communicate clearly on many topics and understand more complex English. |
| C1 | Advanced | You can use English flexibly and effectively in academic, professional, and social contexts. |
| C2 | Proficient | You can understand and express complex ideas with a high degree of precision and fluency. |
At the end of the test, you’ll receive a CEFR level that reflects your current English proficiency.
